Biomechanical cost quantification for wheelchair accessible cities

Program

To achieve the objective of the project (i.e. production of biomechanical costs in different locomotion situations of manual wheelchair users), the methodology will rely on four technical work packages (WP2, WP3, WP4 and WP5) whose organization is represented on below. These four work packages (WP) will be completed by a work package for the coordination, the follow-up and the evaluation of the project (WP1) and a work package dedicated to the communication and the valorization (WP6).

Briefly, the major challenges of the different WPs will be:

  • WP2: Personalization process of a musculoskeletal model adapted to the study of manual wheelchair users locomotion.
  • WP3: Reproduction of realistic manual wheelchair users locomotion in various situations with a dynamic, haptic and immersive simulator
  • WP4: Data collection of an original database of manual wheelchair users locomotion tasks including individuals with various disabilities
  • WP5: Production and evaluation of biomechanical costs associated to the different situations
