  • Le 30/04/2026

  • 18:00 - 20:00
  • Conference
  • IMTD - Mont Houy Campus

"Any writer who has survived childhood has enough information to write for the rest of his life." Flannery O'Connor

The link between childhood, writing and cinema in Florence Seyvos' writing could be the focus of this presentation.

The conference will be presented by Arnaud Huftier, vice-president of the UPHF Board of Directors and head of the cultural service, and Line Amselem-Szende, ISH, LaRSH DeScripto.

Beyond "clichés" about innocence, we'll talk about characters and stories where childhood becomes serious and adults have childlike attitudes.

But, what kind of gaze do these fictional children cast on the adults around them?
How do they read the world?
And why do childhood experiences continue to resonate with intensity through the years?
What is the permanence of childhood within us in this work?
And what is the permanence of the past in this work? And what is the permanence of the past in the present?
What are we made of?

Questions that Florence Seyvos, will answer and exchange with you.

Florence Seyvos was born in Lyon and grew up in the Ardennes. In the late 80s, she began working in children's publishing, first at Gallimard Jeunesse, then at L'école des loisirs. She then began writing books for children, almost all of which were published by l'École des loisirs, and, at the same time, novels for adults, published by éditions de l'Olivier.

In 1995, she met director Noémie Lvovsky, and this was the start of a long collaboration. Together they wrote, among other films, the screenplays for La Vie ne me fait pas peur (Prix Jean Vigo 1999), Les Sentiments (Prix Louis-Delluc 2003), Camille redouble (2012) and Demain et tous les autres jours (2017).

Sometimes she also works for the theater. She recently collaborated with director Julie Deliquet, notably on the theatrical adaptations of Frederik Wiseman's documentary film Welfare (2023) and Svetlana Alexievitch's book of interviews La Guerre n'a pas un visage de femme (2025).

It's also possible for her to work for theater.

Florence Seyvos is the winner of Livre Inter 2025.
