The CERAMATHS mathematics department seminar will welcome Emmanuel Zongo (Univ. Toulouse) at 2pm, Thursday March 27, 2025, for the following talk:

Zero-controllability of the biharmonic heat equation under general boundary conditions

In this talk, we will show a controllability result at zero of a fourth-order parabolic equation under general boundary conditions satisfying the Lopatinskii-Sapiro condition. To do this, we'll establish a spectral inequality for the solution of the parabolic system, leading to the zero-controllability result. This spectral inequality follows from an interpolation inequality obtained through a Carleman inequality for the fourth-order operator under boundary conditions satisfying the Lopatinskii-Sapiro condition.
