Presentation

The CERAMATHS is a research component of the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France created in 2021 following the merger of laboratories in Ceramic Materials and Associated Processes (LMCPA), in Mathematics and their Applications (LAMAV) and in Mathematics for Engineers (LMI).

Structure

The CERAMATHS, with its 84 members, its research facilities is one of the four research components of the UPHF. It develops fundamental and applied research in mathematics and ceramic materials science in its areas of excellence but also in many transverse and collaborative areas with national and international partners : Hauts de France Region projects, ANR, Europe Horizon, EUNICE, INRIA, ...

The CERAMATHS is structured in 2 departments :

  • The Department of Materials and Processes (DMP)works on the development of ceramic materials, the study of their manufacturing processes and their physicochemical characteristics. The DMP elaborates ceramic materials, working on the whole elaboration process, from the synthesis of powders, to the sintering through the shaping. In addition, the DMP characterizes the materials obtained using various techniques, for applications mainly in the fields of transportation and sustainable development and health.
  • The Mathematics Department (DMATHS) covers a broad spectrum of topics, both theoretical and applied. More precisely, DMATHS carries out its activities in the fields of analysis and numerical solution of partial differential equations, topological optimization and the study of curves and surfaces, probability-statistics, differential geometry of varieties and the theory of foliations, number theory, algebra and the history of mathematics. It also provides an activity of dissemination and popularization of mathematics.
