Popularization
The members of CERAMATHS - DMATHS give talks at local secondary schools, and organize meetings at universities, for students, their teachers and sometimes the general public.
List of actions

After a two-year hiatus due to the health crisis, the "Faire des maths autrement" (Doing Maths Differently) course is once again being offered to students in second-year classes at UPHF, every June since 2022.
The 2025 edition, again in partnership with the Inspection Régionale de Mathématiques, took place on June 10, 11, 12 and 13
.
The course will be offered again in 2026, on June 8, 9, 11 and 12.
Applications are open, at this address, from February 2 to March 27, 2026.
The programme for the 2025 workshops is here; that for 2026 will be similar but not identical
The workshop is funded by the MathC2+ program of the Animath association

Practical questions
- hours: 9am - 4:45pm daily (lunch break)
- accueil open from 8:30am on the first day
- the reception, the meeting point every morning, and the Friday afternoon open session will all be in the Abel de Pujol 2 building; this is No. 22 on this map, where the D represents the terminus of the T1 streetcar line Famars - Université
- meals provided by the university, at University Restaurant 2, right next to the Abel de Pujol 2 building

From March 27 to 29, 2023, we organized the MATh.en.JEANS regional congress: see here for the program and lectures, and here for a review in pictures.
We'll be holding it again in 2026, from March 31 to April 2. See this page.
Five schools are working with Valenciennes researchers (Anne-Joëlle Vanderwinden, Mamadou N'Diaye and François Goichot) as part of MATh.en.JEANS, this year 2025/2026:
- the Collège Malraux in Lambres-lez-Douai (Amélie Bocquet),
- the Lycée Rimbaud in Sin-le-Noble (Marion Picavez),
- the Lycée Corot in Douai (Claire De Baecker),
- the Lycée Kastler in Denain (Stéphane Vezin and Sandrine Lesage),
- the collège St-Anne in Sebourg (David Chombart)
Mathematics Week in 2026
As part of this week, CERAMATHS - DMATHS and INSA Hauts-de-France are organizing, in collaboration with Lycée Wallon, the 7the Rencontres Mathématiques Valenciennoises. See here for more information

The 5e Rencontres (2024)
The 4th Encounters (2023)
The Mathematics Week in 2024
The 13th maths week took place from March 13 to 20, 2024 on the theme "Mathematics: the important thing is to participate!"

The CERAMATHS - DMATHS and INSA Hauts-de-France have organized a full day of mathematics for the general public and school audiences on this occasion, Thursday, March 14, 2024

"Playing with numbers, as in the Middle Ages", by François Goichot
Rithmomachia, or number combat, is a game invented in the 11th century, for the leisure of scholars but also to help learn arithmetic. Very complex at the time - more so than chess - the rules evolved until the 16th century. We'll be presenting a version suitable for today's schoolchildren.

Workshop students supervised by a DMATHS researcher present the state of their research
Six schools were working with researchers from CERAMATHS - DMATHS as part of MATh.en.JEANS, this year 2023/2024
.
The students and their teachers came to INSA this Thursday afternoon, March 14. They presented their research carried out this year for MATh.en.JEANS.

Modeling
Emmanuel Creusé, January - February 2020
What is the electrical behavior of a heart cell? How does a pendulum swing? How does heat propagate through double glazing? How does copper sulfate oxidize? How can we characterize equilibrium situations in different sectors of a country's economy? How do Internet search engines work?...
In this workshop, we'll see how mathematics can be used to simulate numerous biological, mechanical, physical, chemical, economic, computer (in simplified versions), ... phenomena by following the triptych "Modeling - Approximation - Simulation":
Modeling: How, starting from the phenomenon in question, to arrive at a set of equations modeling it?
Simulation: How to program the computer (in Python) to obtain, visualize and critically evaluate the result?
For the first workshop, we'll be looking at the simulation of antibodies interacting with a tumor.
Training for Terminale teachers
Trainings have also been organized in 2019 and 2020 in the Lille academy, on the new mathematics programs in Terminale from 2020.

Workshop 2:
The aim of the resources is to make explicit the thread running through the teaching of probability, from Cycle 4 expectations to those of the lycée. From the elementary notions of probability to the law of large numbers, via the formalization of the notion of probability distribution, the more formalized use of random variables with the linearity of expectation and Chebyshev's inequality, the observation of variability will be a highlight of this workshop. You'll find teaching leads and activity materials based on simulations with python for the observation of variability, a fundamental point in probability-statistics.

Workshop 3:
Throughout the year, CERAMATHS - DMATHS offers an "à la carte" program of workshops and lectures under the heading "Mathématiques nomades", aimed at middle school, high school and scientific preparatory class students.
