My research aims to better understand how acoustic and ultrasonic waves propagate and interact with materials and structures, in order to extract information that can be used to characterize, image, and monitor their structural health without causing damage.

A major part of my work focuses on exploiting multiple scattering and reverberant wave fields, which are often considered complex or difficult to interpret, and turning them into a valuable source of information. In particular, I develop passive imaging and monitoring approaches that exploit ambient noise and naturally occurring vibrations in structures, with the aim of reducing the need for active acoustic sources.

This research contributes to Non-Destructive Testing and Structural Health Monitoring (NDT/SHM), with applications ranging from materials and mechanical assemblies to infrastructures, as well as thin structures and miniaturized systems. Ultimately, the goal is to develop diagnostic and monitoring methods that are more sensitive, less invasive, and more efficient in terms of instrumentation and energy consumption.

    In research group

  • Depuis le 01/09/2017 :

My research activities within the IEMN TPIA group focus on physical acoustics, with particular emphasis on elastic and ultrasonic wave propagation, guided waves, passive acoustic imaging, wave propagation in complex and reverberant media, as well as Non-Destructive Testing and Structural Health Monitoring (NDT/SHM).

My research aims at developing passive imaging and monitoring methods exploiting diffuse and reverberant acoustic fields, ambient-noise correlation, Green’s function retrieval, and coda wave interferometry, with applications to the diagnosis and structural health monitoring of materials and structures.
