AROUND MAUPASSANT...
An exhibition by Licence 2 Arts Plastiques students at L'Imaginaire in Douchy-les-Mines
The students.s in Licence 2 Arts Plastiques (ISH) at UPHF have taken as their starting point several short stories by Guy de Maupassant: Boule-de Suif, Le Horla, Apparition, L'Aveugle, La Folle, Lettre d'un fou, Le baiser, Rose, La Guerre. Drawing freely on the texts, the students imagined multidisciplinary creations (painting, engraving, sculpture, installation, video, sound...), either collectively or individually. The main themes explored are madness, relationships of domination, war, conflict and social pressure, the status of women, betrayal, love, infirmity, death, madness, the senses and sensations.
All their creations are on display in the forum of L'imaginaire - Centre des Arts et de la Culture in Douchy-les-Mines. Here's a look back at the exhibition set-up and finissage, which took place on Friday, March 29, 2024.
This project echoes the play Boule-de-Suif (compagnie Les Moutons noirs), programmed at L'Imaginaire on Friday, March 29, 2024, which the students attended.
Exhibition on view from March 22 to April 4, 2024 at L'imaginaire - Centre des Arts et de la Culture de Douchy-les-Mines.
