Europe's humanitarian roots

As part of the Université des Savoirs Partagés lecture series, Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France was pleased to welcome Philippe Tabary for a lecture entitled "L'Europe, une idée de toujours". This event was held on February 6, 2025 at 6pm on the Mont Houy campus.

The event was held on February 6, 2025 on the Mont Houy campus. It was a great success, gathering a large audience around a rich and inspiring intervention.

Philippe Tabary, former European civil servant, "Team Europe Direct" accredited lecturer by the European Commission and specialist in international relations, shared his experience and thoughts on the great attempts at European unification.
He retraced the key stages and major actions that have shaped today's Europe, laying the foundations for a common set of values.
As a convinced European, he also emphasized the importance of the European dimension. A convinced European, he also stressed the importance of foreign languages as a vector of openness and mutual understanding. His speech highlighted contemporary issues, such as trade agreements like Mercosur, revealing the current dynamics of international cooperation.

This lecture was part of the "Dialogue between Cultures" cycle, initiated earlier this year by Dominique Verdeilhan with "Un regard éclairé sur la Justice en France", a talk hailed for its depth and ethical scope.
By continuing this cycle, the University is reaffirming its desire to open up spaces for reflection on major societal issues, by crossing knowledge, testimonials and perspectives.
