Visual arts students are taking over the facades of Rombies-et-Marchipont

For this first edition of Fenêtres qui parlent, the Le Baz’Art association has partnered with the Institute of Societies and Humanities at UPHF to present an open-air exhibition in the heart of Rombies-et-Marchipont. The concept is simple: to transform the village’s facades, windows, and various locations into spaces for showcasing works created in dialogue with the residents and their environment.

Centered on the theme “ Dreaming of the Territory, Transforming Daily Life”, second-year students in the Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts have conceived and created about ten site-specific projects. Their creations are displayed in various locations throughout the town, such as the daycare center, the media library, a farm, a restaurant, city hall, and even private homes.

An artistic, educational, and human experience

Beyond its artistic dimension, this project is a genuine educational and professional development experience. The students were tasked with meeting specific requirements, adapting to various technical constraints (dimensions, mounting methods, site-specific conditions), participating in the installation of the exhibition, and developing a sensitive approach to the local area.

This immersion also allowed them to meet local residents, interact with them, and create works that resonate with the village’s identity and everyday life.

An exhibition to explore throughout the month of May

The exhibition took place from May 1 to 31, 2026.
 Signs and QR codes placed near each artwork allowed visitors to get a behind-the-scenes look and follow the suggested route through the village streets.
