INSA and CERAMATHS host the 37th MATh.en.JEANS regional conference

The MATh.en.JEANS scheme gives volunteer middle and high school students a hands-on introduction to mathematical research: at the start of the school year, university researchers suggest topics within their scope, and students work in groups on them every week. And, in the spring, a congress gives them the opportunity to present their results, listen to professional researchers and exchange views with them.

And so, from March 31 to April 2, INSA and CERAMATHS welcomed almost 300 students from all over Hauts-de-France, as well as from the Lycée Français de la Haye, i.e. 27 different collèges or lycées. Two lectures were offered to middle school students (Emmanuelle Crépeau - CERAMATHS - UPHF/IUT and Pierre Desjonquères - INSPÉ - Université de Lille) and two to high school students (Marie Thilliez - LAMIH - UPHF/INSA and Camélia Goga - Laboratoire de Mathématiques de Besançon, Université Marie et Louis Pasteur). And for all, a "Jazz and Mathematics" concert, organized at l'Intermède by the UPHF Cultural Service. Visits (C3T, S.mart HdF) and activities with the Val'Pro Ci association on campus and in town (Médiathèque, guided tour of Valenciennes) also enabled students to get some fresh air and culture.
