The CERAMATHS Mathematics Department seminar will welcome Emmanuel Creusé (CERAMATHS - DMATHS) at 2pm, Thursday June 22, 2023, for the following talk:

.

A finite volume approximation for a convection-diffusion equation with Joule effect term

In this talk, we focus on a convection-diffusion equation with a nonlinear temperature gradient term called the "Joule effect" term. A finite volume method is proposed for the numerical approximation of the solution, whose convergence to a weak solution is demonstrated. In particular, we establish a second-order discrete Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality on which the proof is based. This work was carried out in collaboration with Caterina Calgaro and Clément Cancès.
