Language immersion for Maing pupils

Pupils from Pierre Vanderbecq school in Maing discovered the Institut Sociétés et Humanités and its Plateforme des Langues et Certifications.

Students discover languages and university

Just before the festive season, the Institut Sociétés et Humanités (ISH) opened its doors to a rather special audience: 48 CM1 and CM2 pupils from the Pierre Vanderbecq school in Maing, accompanied by their parents and teachers, for a foretaste of Christmas... before time!

The aim of the visit: to introduce the students to the university world, but also to introduce them to the wealth of languages and cultures through the Languages and Certifications Platform.

Divided into different groups, the children took part in workshops led by ISH students practicing English, Spanish, Chinese and sign language. Supervised by their elders, they were able to learn new words, discover other writing systems, learn a few expressions and open up to sometimes unfamiliar modes of communication.

Young and old worked together in a friendly, caring atmosphere, like a true shared Christmas spirit. These inter-generational exchanges encouraged the active participation of the students and aroused their curiosity. Enthusiastic and attentive, the children were particularly receptive, filled with wonder throughout the proposed activities.

Beyond the linguistic discovery, this meeting created a real moment of sharing, illustrating the importance of cultural openness from the earliest age and the role of the university in the transmission of knowledge - a little Christmas present before its time for all participants.
