Calculation of the entropies of lattice vacancies

The vibrational entropy of formation of a vacancy in a crystal is calculated at high temperatures and compared with experimental data. The method used, has a pedagogical value by its simplicity, and can be applied to all kinds of lattice defects. The Einstein model is thus justified
