Lecture by Brigitte Lecordier

A leading figure in French dubbing, Brigitte Lecordier is best known for having lent her voice to several iconic characters from the Dragon Ball series – including Goku and the young Gohan, Goten – for nearly 40 years. At this talk, organised as part of the UPHF’s Year of Japan, she will share her career journey and offer a behind-the-scenes look at her profession: acting techniques, the adaptation of works, the differences between French and Japanese dubbing, and the role of artistic direction. She will also discuss the challenges posed by the arrival of artificial intelligence in the sector and the need to preserve the human dimension of artists’ work.

This event will also provide an opportunity to discuss her move into new creative realms, notably comic books, with the publication of her autobiographical work *La Réalité est Énorme* (Reality is Enormous), published by Dupuis on 24 April 2026. Drawing on her experience and personal anecdotes, Brigitte Lecordier will lead a discussion about her career, her passion for acting and her special bond with several generations of audiences.
