On the teaching mode in online course of MEMS fundamental theory

Jinying Zhang, Wei-Jiang Xu, Xianmei Wu, Zhuo Li, Xin Wang, Suhui Yang

Massive offline courses have been transferred to online in higher education reform all over the world. This paper presents a teaching mode integrated with finite element numerical simulation in the fundamental theory study in MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) online course for the graduate…

Effects of the electrical limit conditions on the electromechanical behavior of piezoelectric transducer arrays

Abdelmajid Bybi, Adil Ammar, Mohammed Garoum, Sébastien Grondel, Ahmed Mzerd, Anne-Christine Hladky

Crosstalk is an undesirable phenomenon having a negative impact on the electroacoustic performance of ultrasonic transducer arrays, utilized in medical imaging and NDT applications. Indeed, when one element of a transducer array is excited, it generates parasitic voltages and/or displacement fields…

Subcellular imaging during single cell mechanical characterization

Deniz Pekin, Gregoire Perret, Quentin Rezard, Jean Claude Gerbedoen, Samuel Meignan, Dominique Collard, Chann Lagadec, Mehmet Tarhan

We report a method for combining confocal microscopy with single-cell mechanical characterization. This method allows investigating the effect of subcellular deformation (e.g. membranes, cytoplasm, cytoskeleton and organelles as endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, and nucleus) on cell mechanical…

Scintillators from solution-processable perovskite halide single crystals or quantum dots: the good, the bad, and the ugly

M. D. Birowosuto, F. Maddalena, A. Xie, M. E. Witkowski, M. Makowski, W. Drozdowski, Philippe Coquet, Christophe Dujardin, Cuong Dang

Here we report X- and gamma-ray scintillation properties from solution-processable perovskite (SPP) halide single crystals and quantum dots. We tune the properties of single crystals by replacing the cation, changing the organic ammonium cation spacer, and varying the halide anion. For quantum dots…

Evaluation of the transient EM interferences impact on the clear channel assessment in Wi-Fi communications

Grecia Romero, Virginie Deniau, Eric Pierre Simon, Christophe Gransart

This paper presents a study about transient electromagnetic (EM) interferences produced by contact losses between the catenary and the pantograph and their impact on the Internet access on board trains. This study is focused on the assessment of the impact of these transient EM interferences on the…

High speed mid-IR quantum cascade detector at room temperature

G. Quinchard, C. Mismer, V. Trinite, A. Evirgen, A. Larrue, M. Hakl, Jean-Francois Lampin, Emilien Peytavit, S Barbieri, A. Delga

We present a high-speed antenna enhanced Quantum Cascade Detector at 10.3μm. By using a coherent detection scheme and thin InGaAs/AlInAs heterostructure embedded in metal-metal patch antenna, we demonstrate a heterodyne response up to 67 GHz at room temperature.

Low-Temperature-Grown Gallium Arsenide Photoconductors with Photoresponse Reaching 25 mA/W under 1550nm Cw Excitation

Charbel Tannoury, Maximilien Billet, Christophe Coinon, Jean-Francois Lampin, Emilien Peytavit

We show in this communication that photoconductors based on GaAs grown at low temperature can exhibit photoresponses as high as 25 mA/W under continuous-wave 1550-nm-wavelength illumination. It is achieved by using an optical Fabry-Pérot cavity in order to improve the external quantum efficiency…
