Book: "Ségurant, le chevalier au dragon", by Emanuele ARIOLI

Surpassing all the knights of his time in strength and bravery, Ségurant hands down wins every knightly tournament he enters, until he is bewitched by the fairies Morgane and Sibylle, who set him on the chase of a fire-breathing dragon.

The extraordinary adventures of this knight of the Round Table had been forgotten for centuries. They were rediscovered by a young medievalist, Emanuele Arioli, who scoured libraries all over Europe in search of the manuscripts of this Arthurian novel. At the end of more than ten years' research, Emanuele Arioli here gives the text of this lost novel, illustrated with illuminations from the original manuscripts, so that anyone can, for the first time, read it.

Heritage Days 16 and 17/09/2023 Arenberg Creative Mine

Book: "La Mort Garin le Loherain", by Jean-Charles HERBIN

The content of most manuscripts of the song of "Garin le Loherain" falls under what critics of the last century called a "vulgate", a group of manuscripts that agree on the same narrative, the same episodes and the same characters. This work includes manuscripts I (Dijon 528) and N (Arsenal 3143), which rework the end of the "Garin" poem to recount the hero's death, and the aftermath of this event, more briefly than the other versions. Such redrafting illustrates the shifting nature of a major text, whose lively epic spirit appealed at the end of the 13th century and can still captivate us today. A rich glossary and index complete the edition.
