CeDoc² Larsh: a bridge between doctoral students and disciplines

Founded in 2025 by doctoral students from the Larsh Laboratory (Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France), CeDoc² Larsh is much more than just an association: it's a space for meeting, exchanging and promoting research work in the humanities.

"We found that PhD students were often isolated, each immersed in their own subject, without always having the opportunity to share or learn from the experiences of others", explains Soilio Coulibaly, president of the association and visual artist. The aim is clear: to break this solitude by creating a solid network, while offering visibility to the research conducted within the laboratory.

Innovative projects to unite and popularize

One of the association's flagship initiatives is CEDOC DIC, a collaborative dictionary in which each PhD student defines 10 keywords related to his or her research. Scheduled for publication by the end of the year, this project aims to clarify and share the issues involved in current research. Another innovation: 3-minute video portraits, in which each doctoral student presents his or her research project. These videos, broadcast on a dedicated YouTube channel, are aimed at both academics and the general public, with a stated desire to demystify research.

"We want to show that research is accessible, that it can inspire and even transform a passion into a scientific project ", emphasizes Soilio.

Opening up to other associations and laboratories

The CeDoc² Larsh is not limited to its home laboratory. The association aims to open up to other structures, by co-organizing seminars, colloquia or workshops with partner laboratories.

"The idea is to create synergies, exchange our methods and results, and why not, build joint projects", Soilio points out. This openness not only enriches the perspectives of doctoral students, but also strengthens links between disciplines, integrating human sciences into multidisciplinary dynamics.

A call to commitment

The four-member board (president, secretary, communications officer and their deputies) encourages every PhD student to get actively involved. "It's their association, they have to bring it to life!", invites Soilio. PhD students are invited to propose ideas, organize events or simply take part in regular meetings. "The thesis is not done alone. By discussing with others, even outside your field, you gain clarity and motivation."

With clear ambitions and a commitment to openness, CeDoc² Larsh is positioning itself as a key player in energizing the lives of doctoral students, while building bridges between laboratories and disciplines. An initiative that reminds us that research, above all, is built together.

CeDoc² Larsh: cercle des doctorants.e.s et docteur.e.s is an association of doctoral students and doctors.
