International Symposium—African Resistance to Romanization, Fifty Years Later

The conference aims to celebrate the 50th anniversary of African Resistance to Romanization, Marcel BÉNABOU’s doctoral dissertation published in 1976 by Maspero. Marcel BÉNABOU, a graduate of the École Normale Supérieure (Class of 1960), was a professor at Université Paris Cité from 1974 to 2002; he also served as “permanently provisional secretary” and “provisionally permanent secretary” of Oulipo between 1971 and 2022.
