Meeting of LARSH doctoral students: exchange for better progress

On May 6, 2026, LARSH doctoral students gathered at DeScripto for a day of exchange around the doctoral path, Individual Follow-up Committees (CSI) and the laboratory's collective dynamics. Organized by CEDOC²-LARSH, the meeting brought together PhD students from all departments (DeScripto, CRISS, DeVisu), offering each the opportunity to share their research topic, experiences and challenges encountered on a daily basis.

At the heart of our discussions: common challenges

The discussions focused on themes central to doctoral life:

  • Preparation for and conduct of ISCs: how to approach them calmly.
  • Organizational strategies: managing your time between research, ECTS credit validation, and doctoral training.
  • Participation in conferences: how to reconcile scientific communications and thesis progress.
  • Personal challenges: isolation, distance, reconciling work and research.

Inspiring testimonials marked the day, with a variety of backgrounds: resuming studies, thesis in parallel with salaried employment, or international mobility. These experiences helped to play down the worries of new PhD students and show that each path is unique.

New CEDOC²-LARSH initiatives: strengthening the doctoral community

To unite doctoral students and young PhDs, CEDOC²-LARSH presented several new actions:
✅ Support days for personalized follow-up.
✅ Video portraits of doctoral students to highlight their research work.
✅ Cultural and scientific activities to encourage informal exchanges.
✅ Methodology workshops to share tools and best practices.
✅ Friendly spaces to break isolation.

What next?

The next meeting is already scheduled for May 20, 2026. On the program:

- Administrative procedures for doctoral student mobility.
- Funding applications: what opportunities are available?
- End-of-year laboratory activities, in the presence of Prescillia, administrative secretary.

A common goal: a visible, supportive doctoral community

Through these initiatives, CEDOC²-LARSH wishes to create a stronger collective dynamic, where each doctoral student feels supported, listened to and integrated within the laboratory.
