Presentation

While writers' drafts or correspondence have received sustained attention, the material of reading notes has been less explored for its own sake. Yet it makes visible, measurable and objectifiable the process of reading-writing, the work of reading in the creation and organization of a thought.
This colloquium takes a close look at this material and intellectual object, which has nourished creation through the ages and across geographical and cultural areas, not only among writers but also among thinkers in the humanities and social sciences.
. Among the questions raised are, firstly, that of the materiality of the medium (where and how reading notes are taken - in a notebook, in the margin, etc.). Then, case studies (Gustave Flaubert, Jean Giono, Léon Bloy, Pierre Bergounioux, Alejandra Pizarnik, etc.) aim to measure the traces left by reading, the importance of a reading in the development of a thought and a work.
Lastly, the summary lectures aim to assess the importance of reading in the development of a thought and a work. Finally, the summary lectures aim to identify the generic characteristics of the reading note.
