Ethics: societal, scientific and aesthetic issues

The LARSH is partnering with LAMIH and IEMN to offer a doctoral seminar on contemporary issues in ethics.

A seminar for a wide range of students

After the preparatory work of the Poly&thic workshops inaugurated in 2021 (" Ethics, a new value in the post-modern world ? ") within the UPHF, the present seminar, open to doctoral students coming from applied sciences, social sciences and humanities, proposes a multidisciplinary reflection that takes as a red thread the question of the place of ethics in today's society, with as a counterpoint the questioning of the practice of ethics in academic research.

Ethics in all its states

Why is there such a surge in demand for ethics? Why do we need ethics so badly? What is it a symptom of? What does it conceal? How has it been working and reconfiguring our societies for the past fifty years or so, and more particularly since the beginning of the twenty-first century? In what sense is it becoming one of the new values of the present world, if not one of its new narratives? How to teach it? How can we stick to it? These are the questions that will circumscribe the reflections presented by specialists in the various spheres to which ethics is attached and in which it engages an overhanging, critical gaze.

Terms and conditions

Doctoral students will be able to register, depending on his or her interests, for the entire cycle or for certain conferences, each of which will result in the awarding of credits as part of the PhD training.
