Exhibition "Under the bike, the cobblestones - Images of Paris-Roubaix".
The Hauts-de-France Polytechnic University in collaboration with the CAPH are organizing a never-before-seen exhibition on the images of the Paris-Roubaix
Under the Bike, the Pavements - Images of the Paris-Roubaix, such is the title of an original exhibition conceived by the "Tourism and Heritage Valuation" Chair, which gives pride of place not only to archival images and objects, but above all to representations by contemporary artists of the legendary Paris-Roubaix race!
From April 4 to 15, visitors will thus be able to relive the race by looking at rare or unpublished images of the Paris-Roubaix, to imagine themselves riding the vintage bikes presented, to retrace the extraordinary career of local boy Jean Stablinski by contemplating his jerseys and medals, and to dream by admiring unpublished drawings imprinted with mud and cobblestones.
The exhibition features, among other things, Christian Lax and his comic strip Lark's Pain, Teel's drawings from The Epic of Paris-Roubaix and The Heroes of Paris-Roubaix, the images of the Czech illustrator duo Tomski and Polanski. Or how to represent the mythical heroes or the anonymous ones who made the Paris-Roubaix and the Arenberg gap a unique race !
The exhibition opening will take place on Tuesday, April 4 at 6:00 pm, followed by the acrobatic bike show The V Man, a roundtable discussion "Cycling in Words and Images" with Nathalie Watteyne, Brigitte Friant-Kessler, Arnaud Huftier and Fabien Wille, followed by a screening of Maxime Boilon's documentary On the Top of the Pavement (2003).
