Florent Masson, 2026 IUF Award Winner

Mr. Florent Masson, University Professor of Private Law, has been awarded the junior chair at the Institut Universitaire de France (IUF) for 2026.

Recognizing the limitations of the exclusive property model, Florent Masson’s project aims to explore the extent to which our relationships with things could be redefined based on a paradigm of use. To this end, the research will draw on concrete contexts where this paradigm is already dominant (medieval land law; foreign customary practices; contemporary legal institutions, such as those governing water or certain digital data) to rethink, both institutionally and culturally, our contemporary relationship with things.
