Seminar - Exhibiting Writing: Intersections, Circulation, and Hybridization
Tuesday, November 24, 2026
Tertiales Campus, Lecture Hall A
The symposium “Exposing Writing” will be dedicated to exploring the relationships between books, literary and poetic writing, and exhibitions in
contemporary art. Seven or eight artists, writers, curators, and researchers will be invited to share their thoughts and practices regarding these transfers and shifts between spheres of expression that are generally distinct. We will thus explore a highly topical area of research specific to contemporary art that concerns the art of exhibition and its heterogeneous relationships with writing.
The concepts of space, installation, and scenography will be examined based on the hypothesis formulated by Boris Groys in his article “Politics of
Installation”: “Today, there is no longer any ‘ontological’ difference between making art and staging art” (Groys, 2009). What is a poet who exhibits? Or a poet who writes based on an exhibition? A visual artist who works with text? What is a curator who approaches the exhibition as a field of writing and literature? What is an artist who incorporates the literary and the poetic into their works or exhibition installation?
