In an economic area such as the Franco-Belgian economic zone, the cross-border debt recovery is a daily challenge for businesses, financial institutions and legal practitioners. Whilst European Union law has gradually introduced instruments to facilitate the circulation of judgments and the securing and recovery of debts, their practical implementation continues to be hampered by persistent obstacles arising from the delicate interplay between European instruments and national laws, as well as the diversity of national practices, which complicate enforcement. Against this backdrop, the conference proposes a comparative analysis between France and Belgium, bringing together academics and practitioners with the dual aim of identifying specific points of friction and devising practical solutions and avenues for improvement.
