La experiencia del cautiverio en las fronteras de la Monarquía Hispánica, siglos XVI al XVIII
Coordinated by Yves Junot, editions Complutense
Presentation
The volume deals with the experience of captivity as it developed on the borders of the Iberian worlds from the 16th to the 18th century between Europe, the Mediterranean and America. It analyzes from different points of view how the deprivation and redemption of people's freedom was lived and experienced on these different frontiers, identifying common elements and differences that allow us to conceptualize the phenomenon of captivity in the modern era. The articles, written in Spanish or French by a team of specialists from Spain, France (including Solange Ségala - LARSH), Colombia and North America, address different dimensions: new perspectives from the point of view of law and legal practice; exiting captivity: the redemption of Christians in Islamic lands; the construction of categories of prisoners (men and women) in the experience of captivity; iconographic considerations on captivity and the redemption of people; the frontier laboratory of the Indies.
