Developing a "smart" test connector thanks to new technological applications

The test connector is made up of a set of fixed and mobile elements, which must be sufficiently robust to allow a very large number of connections. However, during use, the connector undergoes wear and tear, and regular maintenance (or overhaul) of the connector is essential to ensure its perfect operation.

The limitations of the current connector argue in favor of developing a new connector concept capable of feeding back information on its use. The applications are then multiple for the various companies involved:

  • The end user of the connector can optimize the commitment of his fleet of connectors by having real-time access to the wear rates of the various items;
  • Créatique Technologie can check that the connector is being used correctly, and avoid taking out warranties on connectors used by careless customers;
  • Créatique Technologie, by knowing its customers' connector usage rates, can also optimize the maintenance process. By analyzing information from the field, Créatique Technologie can plan the production of parts dedicated to maintenance and optimize the management of its spare parts stock. This type of predictive inventory management represents a significant break with current practices, and offers significant financial gains.

In this context, an "intelligent" connector is not simply an evolution of the conventional industrial test connector, but must be considered a real breakthrough in terms of both the connector's technology and its uses.
