BLOWER

This platform is used for the development of basic experimental research and aerodynamic testing.

Presentation

The laboratory's wind tunnel is used for research of a fundamental nature mainly focused on the characterization and control of lift-off flows, but also for research applied to the aerodynamics of land transport, particularly with a view to reducing fuel consumption. The wind tunnel has received the label "Center of Resources and Scientific and Technological Expertise" (CREST) within the framework of the Regional Platform for Innovation and Valorization of Research. The platform is part of the regional platform of Hauts-de-France " CONTRAERO " (structuring group of regional wind tunnels, LML & ONERA) which was the subject of a framework agreement with the DR18 CNRS signed in 2016, and an inauguration in September 2017. It has the particularity of having a relatively long test vein allowing to characterize the flow around geometries of very elongated dimension (railway domain).

.

This test facility is also equipped with dedicated instrumentation such as hot wire anemometry (HWA), Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDV), particle image velocimetry (PIV) as well as an unsteady pressure acquisition chain (30 channels in simultaneous acquisition) and an aerodynamic balance.
