Operation

The LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 relies on different bodies to ensure its operation.

The board is composed of the management, the department directors and their deputies, the cluster heads, the head of the MH2 axis and the administrative and financial manager of the laboratory. It meets twice a month. It decides on the concrete actions of research management for each of the departments (finances, projects, PhD students, indicators...).

The Laboratory Council is chaired by the Director of the Unit. It has a consultative role and issues an opinion on all issues related to the scientific policy, the management of human and financial resources, material means, organization and functioning of the Unit.

It is composed of 10 elected members, 8 appointed members and two ex officio members.

It meets three to four times a year. In particular, it votes on the budgets and the scientific policy of the laboratory.

It meets three to four times a year.

The ISC meets on average every two and a half years. Its objective is to evaluate the relevance of scientific themes, future research directions, and risks taken on innovative issues. The members of the ISC are internationally recognized and cover by their field of expertise the disciplinary fields of LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201.

For 1st year doctoral students, the audition before this committee is mandatory, it usually takes place at the end of June or beginning of July; without it and the committee's validation there is no possible re-enrollment. The audition consists of a 10-minute presentation of the research work done during this 1st year, followed by 5 minutes of questions.

For 3rd year doctoral students, the audition is only mandatory in the event that registration for 4th year is requested. The audition consists of a 25-minute presentation of the research work carried out followed by 10 minutes of questions.

The audition will be held during the first year of the program.

Different committees are constituted according to the CNU sections. They are composed:

  • The director of the department and/or the deputy director of the department (one of the 2 is compulsory), he/she plays the role of jury president.
  • The director of the LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 and the deputy directors (the presence of at least one of them is mandatory).
  • From the director(s), thesis supervisor(s). In case of absence, a written recommendation from them is requested.
  • Anyone from the laboratory if there are no closed-door restrictions.

The Thesis and HDR Committee is composed of the laboratory management, the department managements and any person appointed by the laboratory director in his or her capacity. The committee examines and validates applications for registration and defense of theses and HDRs.

The complexity of the environment of research structures is well known: plurality of supervisors, administrative processes, mobility of administrative staff or reallocation of functions ... Procedures exist but have a variable life span and are quickly forgotten by users who then rely on secretariats - whose activity is already quite busy - to remind them. The LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 is no exception to this rule. To remedy this, the Quality - Health - Safety - Procedures pole was set up in January 2020 with the main objective of improving the living and working conditions of everyone - from the PhD student to the laboratory management. Its mission is to structure research support processes and ensure that regulatory requirements are taken into account in the context of research activities (research involving humans, data protection, etc.).  The pole is structured into four working groups.
