The research activities of the IT department correspond to 3 challenges that cut across the two OptmiMob and InterA themes.

Challenge 1: Robustness, Adaptation & Optimization in Complex Systems

Robustesse, Adaptation & Optimisation dans les Systèmes Complexes

The aim of this challenge is to define a coherent framework built on cooperation mechanisms between robust optimization techniques and environmental adaptation techniques.

This construction is based on up-to-date data and at different levels of modeling, reflection, decision and spatio-temporal granularitý. Approaches characterized as IA (constraint satisfaction, multi-agent systems...) or RO (metaheuristics, matheuristics...) are used in this construction.

These mechanisms enable the optimization and simulation of complex systems in a non-deterministic environment. Resource reservation, sharing and utilization issues are taken into account.

The applications mainly concern transport and hospital systems.

Challenge 2: High-performance and secure architectures, data and services for mobile and embedded systems

The aim of this challenge is to develop mobile and embedded systems capable of efficiently processing very large quantities of data from heterogeneous sources. These systems must simultaneously meet several contradictory criteria: performance, low energy consumption, reliability, security and, last but not least, low cost. The field of application concerns the smart city in general and intelligent transport systems (autonomous vehicles) in particular.

In this challenge, the design of hardware and software components for AI is seen as a key area. This design also takes into account secure communications aspects and attack detection. It covers a 3-level stack: hardware architectures, data exchange protocols and algorithms, and application integration.

Challenge 3: Design and Evaluation of Interactive, Adaptive and Multimodal Systems

Conception et Évaluation de Systèmes Interactifs, Adaptatifs et Multimodaux

In this challenge, the aim is to propose techniques, methods and models for the design and evaluation of interactive, adaptive and multimodal systems. In our approach, the specificities and needs of people with reduced mobility, the elderly or in disabling situations are taken into account. To this end, new, more natural interaction mechanisms (tangible, implicit, multimodal) and approaches enabling adaptation to the user and/or target person and their context are developed.

.

We are interested in two locks :

  • The first lock is methodological and concerns the definition of development frameworks for these new types of applications. Indeed, these require the integration of different scientific fields (software engineering, human-computer interaction) as well as the integration of heterogeneous technologies (sensors and new interaction devices such as immersive or holographic displays).
  • The second, more applicative, relates to the particularization of these interactive systems, according to a user-centric approach, for a specific audience: people with reduced mobilitý the elderly or those with disabilities. Contributions developed as part of the second lock will be carried out in cooperation with the region's hospital centers.
