The research activities of the Automation Department focus on system design, control and monitoring.
The research activities of the Department of Automation focus on the design, control and monitoring of systems (autonomous, human-machine, industrial or service socio-technical).
These activities follow an original vision where the classical approach to the design of control systems, decoupling the human, the control/command/supervision functions and finally the operative part is revisited in the light of a cyber-physical context integrating the human. This class of Cyber-Physical-Human Systems (H-CPS) is based on the vision of an anthropocentric structure, in which Man is "augmented" and interacts with the CPS at different levels.

The following application domains are considered:
- Transport (mainly automotive and rail),
- Manufacturing (factory 4.0, logistics),
- Hospital sector and healthcare technologies (assistance, rehabilitation,...).
