Congratulations to José Cezar de Souza Filho, a doctoral student at LAMIH, for receiving a "Best Paper Award" at the RCIS 2026 international conference for a paper co-authored with Káthia Marçal de Oliveira and Rafik Belloum.
The paper, titled “Analyzing Empirical Findings on User Reliance Behaviors in XAI-Assisted Decision-Making,” examines how the design of explanations influences the way users rely on recommendations generated by artificial intelligence systems.
This study identifies various design strategies to promote informed decision-making and highlights the necessary conditions for designing AI systems that encourage critical and appropriate use of their recommendations.
