A Look Back at the Regional Day for Doctoral Students in Control Science (JRDA)

The Regional Day for Doctoral Students in Automation (JRDA), organized by the GISGRAISyHMand the doctoral schools of the Hauts-de-France region was held on June 25, 2026, at the CRIStAL laboratory in Villeneuve d’Ascq, under the title “Regional Day for Doctoral Students in Automation, Computer Engineering, Signal and Image Processing” (JRD AGITSI).

This new title is better aligned with the research areas of the laboratories at the institutions that are signatories to the new GIS GRAISyHM 2024–2029 agreement, which fall under Section 61, “Computer Engineering, Automation, and Signal Processing” of the National Council of Universities (CNU).

The goal of this event is to present research in the form of posters and to bring together doctoral students, postdocs, and faculty members in the Hauts-de-France region.

The event had two main themes: pursuing a career in academia, and gender parity and equality among doctoral students.

On this occasion, following a brief welcome address by the president of GIS GRAISyHM, two plenary presentations were given before an audience of more than 60 participants:

  • Ludovic Macaire (Professor at the MADIS Graduate School) titled “Functioning and Qualification Criteria for Associate Professor Positions, Statistics on the Career Paths of PhD Graduates.”
  • Maude Pupin (Professor, University of Lille) and Elias Benyahia (Ph.D. candidate, CRIStAL) titled “Diversity and Gender Parity: Challenges for Better Research.”

After lunch, the day concluded with a poster session featuring 30 posters showcasing the research work of doctoral students from the GIS GRAISyHM.

Four prizes, each worth 200€, were awarded for the best poster. The winners are:

  • Antoine ALESSANDRINI (CRIStAL - UL): Design of a compliant control law for soft robots
  • Fatima M’Rani (LISIC-ULCO): Joint tensor methods for Sentinel multisensor fusion and oversampled hyperspectral reconstruction
  • Salah eddine ELGHARBI, PhD (CERI SN – IMT NE): Digital twin-based simulation and emulation of large-scale ESP32 IoT systems
  • Yiqu Zhang (ENSAIT – UL): Development of a personal thermal comfort prediction system based on a hybrid model

This year’s event was once again a great success and demonstrated the dynamism of research in Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Signal Processing, and Image Processing.

The 2027 edition of this AGITSI Research Day will be organized in Valenciennes by LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201 | UPHF.
