Towards sustainable freight transport
EcoLogiX is a European project that proposes to rethink freight transport in a more sustainable, intelligent and collective way.
A project to accelerate modal shift in a highly interconnected region
Freight transport is essential to our daily lives. Yet it still relies very heavily on the road, with well-known consequences: traffic jams, pollution, nuisance for local residents and increasing pressure on infrastructure.
Supported by the Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen program, in which the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France is involved through its LAMIH research laboratory, EcoLogiX is a cooperative initiative that aims to remove the brakes on modal shift, by developing digital tools and analysis methods to help companies and local players favor greener modes of transport (river, rail or innovative solutions) on the Grand Hainaut / Province of Hainaut axis.
The project involves the development of a digital mapping tool to visualize and anticipate freight flows thanks to up-to-date data, as well as the elaboration of recommendations to remove technical, regulatory and organizational obstacles.
A forum for dialogue between companies, infrastructure managers and public authorities will also be set up.
By combining innovative digital tools, territorial expertise and collaborative work, EcoLogiX will help to support modal shift and enhance the attractiveness of the cross-border territory.
