Introduction

Yacine Bellik, Christophe Kolski

Variable neighborhood search for location routing

Bassem Jarboui, Houda Derbel, Said Hanafi, Nenad Mladenovic

In this paper we propose various neighborhood search heuristics (VNS) for solving the location routing problem with multiple capacitated depots and one uncapacitated vehicle per depot. The objective is to find depot locations and to design least cost routes for vehicles. We integrate a variable...

Roughness signature of tribological contact calculated by a new method of peaks curvature radius estimation on fractal surfaces

Maxence Bigerelle, Jean-Marie Nianga, Denis Najjar, Alain Iost, Cédric Hubert, K. J. Kubiak

This paper proposes a new method of roughness peaks curvature radii calculation and its application to tribological contact analysis as characteristic signature of tribological contact. This method is introduced via the classical approach of the calculation of radius of asperity. In fact, the...

Energetic optimization of the performances of a hot air engine for micro-CHP systems working with a Joule or an Ericsson cycle

Marie Creyx, Eric Delacourt, Céline Morin, Bernard Desmet, Philippe Peultier

The micro combined heat and electrical power systems (micro-CHP) with hot air engines are well adapted for solid biomass upgrading, in particular, the Ericsson engines working with an open cycle and an external combustion. This paper presents a model of an Ericsson engine with a compression and an...

Assessment of ship maneuverability by using a coupling between a nonlinear transient ship maneuvering model and mathematical programming techniques

T. Tran Khanh, Abdellatif Ouahsine, Hakim Naceur, Karima El Wassifi

In this paper, a numerical method based on a coupling between a mathematical model of nonlinear transient ship manoeuvring motion in the horizontal plane and Mathematical Programming (MP) techniques is proposed. The aim of the proposed procedure is an efficient estimation of optimal ship...

Application of a Co-evolutionary Genetic Algorithm to solve the Periodic Railway Timetabling Problem

Luis Diego Arenas Pimentel, Rémy Chevrier, Clarisse Dhaenens, Said Hanafi, Joaquin Rodriguez

In train operations, a timetable is used to establish the departure and arrival times for the trains at the stations or other relevant locations in the rail network or a subset of this network. The elaboration of a timetable responds to the commercial needs of the customers, for both passenger and...

A three-dimensional study of electronic component cooling using a flat heat pipe

Hamdy Hassan, Souad Harmand

In this article, a three-dimensional thermal and hydrodynamic numerical model using a flat heat pipe (vapor chamber) is proposed for cooling of electronic components. The heat pipe is composed of a vapor region sandwiched between two wick regions, which are covered by two flat copper plates. A...

A comprehensive blank development method for forming sheet metal parts

Jianjun Wu, Xin Wu, Liangcai Deng, Hakim Naceur

For some shortcomings in the use of standard radial length development in the blank development for forming sheet metal parts, an improved radial length normal spreading approach considering outside normal direction is developed to resolve blank development in sheet metal forming. Moreover, a...
