Wall-film heterogeneity governs foam-induced detachment of Bacillus spores from stainless steel pipes

Ahmad Al Saabi, Thierry Benezech, Christine Faille, Piyush Kumar Jha, Fethi Aloui, Ridha Mosrati, Joël Breard, Heni Dallagi

Foam-cleaning performance is interpreted from bulk flow conditions or mean wall shear stress estimates, although microorganisms experience the liquid film separating moving bubbles from the surface. To isolate its influence, a sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) foam (nominal gas fraction, 50%) was...

On the attenuation of mismatched disturbances with fixed-time sliding mode control

Marco Arteaga, Emmanuel Moulay, Michael Defoort

For many control systems, the presence of perturbations decreases performance, hence their rejection has been an active area of research for decades. Roughly speaking, there are two kinds of perturbations, those which are matched, i.e. the control input can act directly on them, and those which are...

Linear Stochastic Systems with i.i.d. uncertainties: Exact Covariance Characterization, Stability Analysis and State-feedback Design

Kaouther Moussa, Dimitri Peaucelle, Yohei Hosoe, Mirko Fiacchini

This paper studies linear discrete-time systems affected by independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) multiplicative uncertainties and additive noise. It establishes the main links between covariance recursions, the spectral properties of associated Kronecker-based matrices, and mean-square...

MPC for tracking for anesthesia dynamics

Maxim Raymond, Kaouther Moussa, Mirko Fiacchini, Jimmy Lauber

In this paper, an MPC for tracking formulation is proposed for the control of anesthesia dynamics. It seamlessly enables the optimization of the steady-states pair that is not unique due to the MISO nature of the model. Anesthesia dynamics is a multi-time scale system with two types of states...

Covariance Stabilization for a class of Stochastic Discrete-time Linear Systems using the S-Variable Approach

Kaouther Moussa, Dimitri Peaucelle

This paper deals with the problem of covariance stabilization for a class of linear stochastic discrete-time systems in the Stochastic Model Predictive Control (SMPC) framework. The considered systems are affected by independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) additive and parametric...

Robust Fixed-Time Nonsingular Terminal Sliding Mode Control ⋆

Moussa Labbadi, Emmanuel Moulay, Michael Defoort, Marco A Arteaga

In this paper, it is proposed a fixed-time nonsingular terminal sliding mode control for a class of second-order nonlinear systems subject to perturbations. A novel continuous terminal sliding manifold is introduced to ensure robust fixed-time stabilization. It is shown that the...

Adaptive Shared Lateral Control and Human Driver Modeling for Enhanced Driver Assistance Systems in Autonomous Vehicles

Fouzi Tabouri, Nacim Meslem, Olivier Sename, Chouki Sentouh

ABSTRACT This paper proposes a novel advanced Adaptive Driver Assistance System (ADAS) that integrates human driver modeling into a shared lateral control framework for autonomous vehicles. The human driver model incorporates steering column dynamics, sensory delays, neuromuscular system effects,...

Spherical Indentation Creep Behavior with Local Depth Deformation Analysis of Self-Compacting Concrete: Influence of Water-to-Binder Ratio

Zina Djebbari, Said Grairia, Djamel Boutagouga, Adel Saoudi, Abdelkrim Maansar, Alex Montagne, Didier Chicot

This study investigates the creep behavior of self-compacting concrete (SCC) under indentation loading, a relatively underexplored area compared with traditional loading conditions. The main objective is to elucidate the creep characteristics of five SCC mixtures, differentiated by varying water-to...
