Experimental and theoretical investigation of Stirling engine heater: Parametrical optimization

Ramla Gheith, Houda Hachem, Fethi Aloui, Sassi Ben Nasrallah

The aim of this work is to optimize γ Stirling engine performances with a special care given to the heater. This latter consists of 20 tubes in order to increase the exchange area between the working gas and the hot source. Different parameters were chosen to evaluate numerically and experimentally...

Multi-objective variable neighborhood search: an application to combinatorial optimization problems

Abraham Duarte, Juan Pantrigo, Eduardo G Pardo, Nenad Mladenovic

Solutions to real-life optimization problems usually have to be evaluated con-sidering multiple conflicting objectives. These kind of problems, known as multi-objectiveoptimization problems, have been mainly solved in the past by using evolutionary algo-rithms. In this paper, we explore the...

Hardware resource utilization optimization in FPGA-based Heterogeneous MPSoC architectures

Bouthaina Dammak Masmoudi, Mouna Baklouti, Rachid Benmansour, Smail Niar, Mohamed Abid

Next generation FPGA circuits will allow the integration of dozens of hard and soft cores as well as dedicated accelerators in the same chip. These Heterogeneous Multiprocessor System-on-Chip (Ht-MPSoC) architectures will allow the design of very complex System-on-Chips (SoC) on a single FPGA chip...

Study of the parameters and characteristics of flat heat pipe with nanofluids subjected to periodic heat load on its performance

Hamdy Hassan, Souad Harmand

A study is presented on the transient cooling of an electronic component by flat heat pipe (FHP) with nanofluid. The electronic component has periodic power output of maximum value 400 W and works for 12.8 s. The effects of Cu, CuO and Al2O3 nanoparticles on the heat pipe performance are...

Reactive control of overall power consumption in flexible manufacturing systems scheduling: A Potential Fields model

Cyrille Pach, Thierry Berger, Yves Sallez, Damien Trentesaux

In recent years, designing “energy-aware manufacturing scheduling and control systems” has become more and more complex due to the increasing volatility and unpredictability of energy availability, supply and cost, and thus requires the integration of highly reactive behavior in control laws. The...

Customizing VLIW processors from dynamically profiled execution traces

Gorker Alp Malazgirt, Arda Yurdakul, Smail Niar

The design philosophy of VLIW processors is to maximize instruction level parallelism (ILP) starting from compiler and machine code level to all the way down to memory and computational blocks. For this purpose, VLIW tailoring has been an important research area, because non-tailored VLIWs cannot...

A real time data mining rules selection model for the Job Shop Scheduling Problem

Mohamed Habib Zahmani, Baghdad Atmani, Abdelghani Bekrar, Nassima Aissani

Finding the best Dispatching Rule for a Job Shop Scheduling Problem is a tedious task, both time and cost consuming. Since there is no rule that can outperform the others, in this paper we propose an approach able to affect in real-time a different Dispatching Rule for each machine while minimizing...

Routing proposition to face myopia in flexible manufacturing system distributed control

Nassima Aissani, Damien Trentesaux

Decentralized decision-making processes in manufacturing control offer seeking fault-tolerance, scalability, flexibility, adaptability and reactivity. However, many convergence problems appear: decisional entities do not have a clear vision whether or not the system is heading towards its...
