Ethology and Robotics ... Biomimetics as a consortium, Ethologie et robotique ... le biomimétisme pour consortium

Pierre Moretto

The alliance between ethology and robotics offers an innovative framework where robotics not only replicates animal behaviors but also serves as a physical model for understanding movement.

Addressing water level uncertainty for inland waterway transportation: a partially joint chance-constrained programming approach

Chenghao Wang, Ioana Bilegan, Walter Rei, David Duvivier

In this study, we focus on the tactical planning problem for consolidation-based intermodal freight transportation carriers, focusing on inland waterway networks. We introduce novel considerations on this decision-making type of problem and, more broadly, on addressing uncertainty arising from...

Two 3D Fractal-Based Approaches for Topographical Characterization: Richardson Patchwork versus Sdr

François Berkmans, Julie Lemesle, Robin Guibert, Michał Wieczorowski, Christopher Brown, Maxence Bigerelle

Various methods exist for multiscale characterization of surface topographies, each offering unique insights and applications. The study focuses on fractal-based approaches, distinguishing themselves by leveraging fractals to analyze surface complexity. Specifically, the Richardson Patchwork method...

Development of innovative solutions for the control of the aerodynamic drag induced by cavity flows, Développement de solutions novatrices de contrôle de la traînée aérodynamique induite par des écoulements de cavités

Tarek Ammam

This work concerns the analysis and control of the flow over cavities, which have the particularity of being laterally open and near a wall, with the aim of developing drag control solutions induced by bogie cavities of high-speed trains.

An efficient steady-state thermal model for predicting the lack-of-fusion porosity during laser powder bed fusion process

Jia Yabo, Saadlaoui Yassine, Bergheau Jean-Michel

The lack-of-fusion porosity due to the incomplete melting of the powder should be avoided during laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. The porosity will reduce the performance of mechanical properties. In certain manufacturing processes, the thermal and metallurgical quasisteady-state can be...
