Torsion delamination test, a new method to quantify the adhesion of coating: Application to car coatings

P.-E. Mazeran, Marie-Florence Arvieu, Maxence Bigerelle, Stéphane Delalande

A torsion delamination test was developed to characterize the interfacial cohesion of multilayer organic coatings. It consists in applying an increasing torque on a hexagonal plot directly glued on the coating until delamination occurs. The test is quantitative and allows the calculus of the shear…

Exact analysis of signal-to-noise ratio for SAC-OCDMA system with direct detection

A. Garadi, A. Djebbari, Abdelmalik Taleb-Ahmed

In this paper, an exact signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) analysis is carried out for spectral amplitude coding optical code division multiple access (SAC-OCDMA) system with spectral direct detection (SDD). Unlike to the early calculated SNR expression based on SAC-OCDMA with balanced detection decoder…

Variable neighborhood search: basics and variants

Pierre Hansen, Nenad Mladenovic, Raca Todosijević, Said Hanafi

Variable neighborhood search (VNS) is a framework for building heuristics, based upon systematic changes of neighborhoods both in a descent phase, to find a local minimum, and in a perturbation phase to escape from the corresponding valley. In this paper, we present some of VNS basic schemes as…

Pyramid multi-level features for facial demographic estimation

Salah Eddine Bekhouche, Abdelkrim Ouafi, Fadi Dornaika, Abdelmalik Taleb-Ahmed, Abdenour Hadid

We present a novel learning system for human demographic estimation in which the ethnicity, gender and age attributes are estimated from facial images. The proposed approach consists of the following three main stages: 1) face alignment and preprocessing; 2) constructing a Pyramid Multi-Level face…

Reformulating Clancey's generic tasks for bridging both sides of dual reality, Reformulation des tâches génériques de Clancey pour relier les deux côtés de la réalité duale

Walid Merrad, Alexis Heloir, Christophe Kolski

In many domains, the realization of an abstract model implies to cross the valley separating an abstract conceptualization and its actual completion in the physical world. In this paper, we propose a generic model based on Clancey's ontology of generic tasks and the dual reality paradigm.

Tangible interfaces and dual reality for collaborative problems solving around distributed tabletops

Walid Merrad, Alexis Heloir, Christophe Kolski

In many domains, the realization of an abstract model implies to cross the valley separating an abstract conceptualization and its actual completion in the physical tangible world. In this paper, we expose our work and domain of researches in tangible interaction and discuss the important aspects…, Dans de nombreux domaines, la réalisation d'un modèle abstrait implique de traverser la vallée séparant une conceptualisation ab-straite et son achèvement réel dans le monde physique tangible. Adaptive Reliability for Fault Tolerant Multicore Systems

Ihsen Alouani, Thomas Wild, Andreas Herkersdorf, Smail Niar

In an era of continuously shrinking technology and escalating power density, Multiprocessor System on Chips (MPSoCs) suffer from a growing prominence of device defects and increase of dependability-related issues. This paper tackles the dependability challenge by suggesting an adaptive reliability…
