Skewed general variable neighborhood search for the cumulative capacitated vehicle routing problem

Noura Smiti, Mohamed Mahjoub Dhiaf, Bassem Jarboui, Said Hanafi

The cumulative capacitated vehicle routing problem (CCVRP) is a relatively new version of the classical capacitated vehicle routing problem, and it is equivalent to a traveling repairman problem with capacity constraints and a homogeneous vehicle fleet, which aims to minimize the total arrival time…

Survey on Visualization and Visual Analytics pipeline-based Models

Hela Ltifi, Christophe Kolski, Mounir Ben Ayed

In the last decade, many studies have focused on visualization. The main key to make it practical for research and engineering applications is the suitable definition of a pipeline-based visualization model. It provides effective abstractions for designing visualization tools. In this article, we…

Control of an automated wheelchair

Michael Gray, Thierry-Marie Guerra, Sebastien Delprat, Sami Mohammad

Due to the world’s aging population, the development of affordable and easy to use wheelchairs is becoming a priority. In this study, the control of an automated wheelchair is proposed. The model equations are derived from the Euler-Lagrange equations, then a descriptor model is formulated. Next, a…

Trusting Security When Sharing Knowledge?

Pierre-Emmanuel Arduin, Bako Rajaonah, Káthia Marçal de Oliveira

This chapter tackles knowledge sharing by focusing on security and trust issues. Although trust is recognized as important in security issues, few studies on information systems (ISs) deal with both trust and security. Knowledge sharing relies on sense-giving and sense-reading processes which…

Let My Car Alone: Parking Strategies with Social-Distance Preservation in the Age of COVID-19

Thierry Delot, Sergio Ilarri

Searching for an available parking space is a time-consuming and frustrating task for drivers, which also leads to huge amounts of fuel waste. Far from being solved, as the COVID-19 crisis slowly resolves, we can expect an increase in the use of private cars in comparison with public transportation…

Heuristics for the single machine weighted sum of completion times scheduling problem with periodic maintenance

Hanane Krim, Rachid Benmansour, David Duvivier, Daoud Aït-Kadi, Said Hanafi

This paper tackles the single machine scheduling problem with periodic preventive maintenance in order to minimize the weighted sum of completion times. This criterion is certainly less studied than the makespan but it remains nonetheless interesting on the theoretical and practical levels. Indeed…

Eco-Driving of Metro Trains Considering Variable Efficiency of Propulsion System

Arun Kumar Kantheti, Denis Berdjag, Sébastien Delprat, Aamir Kamran

The main goal of energy-efficient train control (EETC) is to devise strategies and methods in order to consume the least amount of energy while respecting the system and the operational constraints. Typically, such problems are tackled by breaking the trajectory into various singular and regular…

Particulate emissions measurements by laser-based techniques in a boiler fueled by wood pellets

Salma Bejaoui, Marie Creyx, Eric Delacourt, Céline Morin, Eric Therssen

This paper describes mainly laser-based techniques applied to a boiler fueled by wood pellets which is a real complicated combustion system. To our knowledge, laser-induced incandescence (LII) and extinction are used to characterize particulate emission at the exhaust for the first time because…
