Sample Entropy as a Tool to Assess Lumbo-Pelvic Movements in a Clinical Test for Low-Back-Pain Patients

Paul Thiry, Olivier Nocent, Fabien Buisseret, William Bertucci, André Thevenon, Emilie Simoneau-Buessinger

Low back pain (LBP) obviously reduces the quality of life but is also the world’s leading cause of years lived with disability. Alterations in motor response and changes in movement patterns are expected in LBP patients when compared to healthy people. Such changes in dynamics may be assessed by…

Heuristic and exact reduction procedures to solve the discounted 0–1 knapsack problem

Christophe Wilbaut, Raca Todosijevic, Saïd Hanafi, Arnaud Fréville

In this paper we consider the discounted 0–1 knapsack problem (DKP), which is an extension of the classical knapsack problem where a set of items is decomposed into groups of three items. At most one item can be chosen from each group and the aim is to maximize the total profit of the selected…

Numerical and experimental investigations into the rheological behaviour of wet foam flowing under a fence

Heni Dallagi, Fethi Aloui, Laurent Bouvier, Laurent Wauquier, Thierry Benezech

Experimental and numerical investigations were carried out to describe the flow of a wet foam under a fence placed in the middle of a horizontal duct with a square crosssection. The aim was to characterize the foam’s flow behaviour and model it using CFD in complex geometrical situations such as…

Towards behavioral adaptation for people with intellectual disabilities in a mobility context

Léa Pacini, Sophie Lepreux, Christophe Kolski

Accessibility is one of the major current challenges in the HCI field. The task of wayfinding corresponds to the process of determining and following a path between an origin and a destination. It implies great difficulties for people with intellectual disabilities (ID): Fear of getting lost,…

Design and Use of Human Operator Digital Twins in Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems: Ethical Implications

Olivier Cardin, Damien Trentesaux

The development of future Industrial Cyber-Physical Systems is highly connected to the need for Digital Twins. Integrating machines and information systems in such twins is a difficult task, but the integration of human operators usually constitutes an even harder challenge. However, this challenge…

Pedestrian Navigation through Pictograms and Landmark Photos on Smart Glasses: a Pilot Study

Youssef Guedira, Christophe Kolski, Sophie Lepreux

Wayfinding is the process through which a person moves from one location to another. The means however that each person utilizes to complete a wayfinding task are different depending on the person’s preferences, habits and characteristics. For a large number of people, using turn-byturn directions…

Rating vs. paired comparison for the judgment of dominance on first impressions

Fabrizio Nunnari, Alexis Heloir

This paper presents a contest between the rating and the paired comparison voting in judging the perceived dominance of virtual characters, the aim being to select the voting mode that is the most convenient for voters while staying reliable. The comparison consists of an experiment where human…

Contribution à la modélisation du frittage de l'alumine par chauffage micro-ondes, Contribution to the modelling of alumina sintering by microwave heating

Maxence Renaux

Depuis les années 80, le chauffage par micro-ondes connaît un regain d’intérêt pour lefrittage des matériaux céramiques. Il permet une réduction des temps de traitement (defrittage et de palier). Lesmesures de température réalisées pendant le frittage ne pouvants’effectuer qu’à distance, il n’est…, Since the eighties, microwave heating is receiving renewed interest in the sintering ofceramic materials. It allows a reduction in processing times (sintering and dwell times).Temperature measurements during the microwave sintering can only be carried out atdistance. It is not possible to know the…
