Review on Dynamic Recrystallization of Martensitic Stainless Steels during Hot Deformation: Part I—Experimental Study

Hamed Aghajani Derazkola, Eduardo Garcia, Alberto Murillo-Marrodán, Damien Méresse

The evolution of the microstructure changes during hot deformation of high-chromium content of stainless steels (martensitic stainless steels) is reviewed. The microstructural changes taking place under high-temperature conditions and the associated mechanical behaviors are presented. During the…

Self adaptive learning scheme for early diagnosis of simple and multiple switch faults in multicellular power converters

Houari Toubakh, Moamar Sayed-Mouchaweh, Mohammed Benmiloud, Michael Defoort, Mohamed Djemai

This paper proposes a scheme based on the use of unsupervised machine learning approach and a drift detection mechanism in order to perform an early fault diagnosis of simple and multiple stuck-opened/stuck-closed switches in multicellular converters. Only the data samples representing the normal…

Qualitative and Quantitative Analyses of Surface Alterations of Stone Tools Made of Raw Materials from the Carpathian Basin

Antony Borel, Raphaël Deltombe, Julie Marteau, Philippe Moreau, Maxence Bigerelle, György Lengyel, Zsolt Mester

Wear analysis performed on archaeological stone tools from prehistory aims at characterizing their surface alterations in order to determine their functions and describe past human technical behaviors. However, the reliability and repeatability of the method is questioned and there is a major…

Generating new classes of fixed-time stable systems with predefined upper bound for the settling time

Rodrigo Aldana-Lopez, David Gomez-Gutierrez, Esteban Jiménez-Rodríguez, Juan Diego Sanchez-Torres, Michael Defoort

This paper aims to provide a methodology for generating autonomous and non-autonomous systems with a fixed-time stable equilibrium point where an Upper Bound of the Settling Time (UBST) is set a priori as a parameter of the system. Furthermore, some conditions for such an upper bound to be the…

To the self and beyond: Arousal and functional connectivity of the temporo-parietal junction contributes to spontaneous sensations perception

Sara Salgues, Gaën Plancher, Laurence Jacquot, Janick Naveteur, Lison Fanuel, Germán Gálvez-García, George Michael

The temporoparietal junction (TPJ), along with the anterior insula (AI) and the extrastriate body area (EBA), play a major part in embodiment and self-awareness. However, these connections also appear to be frequently engaged in arousal and attentional processing of external events. Considering…

Submental Anatomical Variations: The Uniqueness of a Common Variation

Laísa Caldas Fernandes, Patricia Shirley de Almeida Prado

Introduction: submental region is subject to many variations, predominantly affecting the anterior belly of the digastric muscle. The medical importance of this area led us to compile a database with the reported cases of the anomalous belly of the anterior belly of the digastric muscle as well as…
