Multi-dimensional Capon spectral estimation using discrete Zhang neural networks

Abderrazak Benchabane, Bennia Abdelhak, Fella Charif, Abdelmalik Taleb-Ahmed

The minimum variance spectral estimator, also known as the Capon spectral estimator, is a high resolution spectral estimator used extensively in practice. In this paper, we derive a novel implementation of a very computationally demanding matched filter-bank based a spectral estimator, namely the…

A framework for mobile and context-aware applications applied to vehicular social networks

Dana Popovici, Mikael Desertot, Sylvain Lecomte, Thierry Delot

The notion of context has become very important in computer science, especially when users are highly mobile. In a short period of time the environment changes; communication networks can become available or unavailable, user communities can appear or disappear, etc. The work presented in this…

Robust stabilization of linear discrete-time systems with time-varying input delay

Antonio Gonzalez Sorribes

This paper presents a sufficient condition to stabilize linear discrete-time systems with time-varying input delay and model uncertainties. The key idea consists of applying Artstein's reduction method and the scaled bounded real lemma; the robust stabilization problem is cast as a set of…

A new code construction with zero cross correlation based on BIBD

A. Djebari, A. Garadi, Iyad Dayoub, Abdelmalik Taleb-Ahmed

This paper presents a newly constructed zero cross correlation code (ZCC) which is based on BIBD (balanced incomplete block design) code. The ZCC (C, w) code is a family of binary sequences of length C and constant Hamming-weight w. Such codes find applications in spectral amplitude-coding optical…

On the modeling and design of composite multilayered structures using solid-shell finite element model

Hakim Naceur, Seddick Shiri, Daniel Coutellier, Jean-Louis Batoz

In this investigation a coupling between a 3D solid-shell element for the analysis of multilayered composite shell structures and a specific response surface method is proposed. The first part of the paper is dedicated to the finite element formulation of a developed composite 8-node solid-shell…

Several versions of the devour digest tidy-up heuristic for unconstrained binary quadratic problems

Said Hanafi, Ahmed-Riadh Rebai, Michel Vasquez

The unconstrained binary quadratic minimization problem is known to be NP-hard and due to its computational challenge and application capability, it becomes more and more considered and involved by the recent research studies, including both exact and heuristic solution approaches. Our work is in…

A hybrid heuristic for the multiple choice multidimensional knapsack problem

Raïd Mansi, Cláudio Alves, J.M. Valério de Carvalho, Said Hanafi

In this article, a new solution approach for the multiple choice multidimensional knapsack problem is described. The problem is a variant of the multidimensional knapsack problem where items are divided into classes, and exactly one item per class has to be chosen. Both problems are NP-hard.…

PLUGAM: Plug-In-Based Adaptation Middleware for Network Layer Protocols for Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks

Carlos Caloca, José-Antonio García-Macías, Thierry Delot

Vehicular communication environments are characterized by highly mobile nodes, frequent topology changes, and a great variation in the number of neighbor vehicles. The network layer (NL) protocols must adapt continuously to these unreliable conditions, hence the growing effort in the development of…

An Analysis of the Reciprocal Collision Avoidance of Cooperative Robots

Aurel Fratu, Michel Dambrine, Laurent Vermeiren, Antoine Dequidt

This paper presents a formal approach that addresses the reciprocal robots collision avoidance, where two robots need to avoid collisions with each other, while moving in a common workspace. Based on our formulation, each physical robot acts fully independently, communicating with the corresponding…
