Diffusion-Driven Hybrid Unknown Input Observer for Vehicle Dynamics Estimation

Cheng Tian, Anh-Tu Nguyen, Edward Chung, Hailong Huang

Vehicle sideslip angle (or lateral speed) and steering angle are essential variables for autonomous vehicle control and active safety systems. Existing estimation methods often depend on deterministic models or neural networks for mapping, which restricts their ability to capture vehicle dynamics…

Analysis of the Combustion of Pellet Mixtures with Barley Straw in a Biomass Boiler

François Delcourt, Lucas Maret, Damien Méresse, Céline Morin

Biomass is a key energy resource in the current context of climate and energy crises, due to its lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuels. However, wood-based energy presents several drawbacks: public health concerns related to pollutant emissions from combustion, and questions about the…

Robust PSO‐Optimized Power Control for Stand‐Alone Variable‐Speed DFIG Wind‐Based High Stability and Power Quality Enhancement: Hardware Investigation‐Based dSPACE1103

Fayssal Amrane, Oussama Gherouat, Bruno Francois, Hichem Itouchene, Khaled Ben Oualid Medani, Azeddine Chaiba, Youcef Belkhier

Wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) operating in stand‐alone mode are increasingly recognized as a promising solution for delivering reliable renewable electricity in remote areas. However, their performance is often hindered by sudden wind speed fluctuations and parameter variations, which can…

Convex Conditions for Observer Design in Nonlinear Continuous-Time Systems Using a Spatial Discretization Procedure

Cristiano Agulhari, Márcio Lacerda, Márcia L.C. Peixoto

This paper proposes convex conditions for the observer design of nonlinear continuous-time systems. A broad class of nonlinear systems can be tackled by the proposed technique. A spatial discretization is employed, and an approximate model is obtained within the error matrices that measure the…

2D profile-based surface repair and 3D pattern generative design via material jetting

Pushkar Kamble, Hao Chen, Hanlin Liao, Yicha Zhang

Jetting printing processes rely on 2D pixel data derived from decomposed 3D models, which are often unavailable in applications such as surface repair and 3D pattern printing. Reconstructing 3D models and decomposing them into 2D pixels is time-consuming, energy-intensive, and prone to accuracy…

Guaranteed State Estimation for H−/L∞ Fault Detection of Uncertain Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Systems With Unmeasured Nonlinear Consequents

Masoud Pourasghar, Anh-Tu Nguyen, Thierry-Marie Guerra

We investigate the problem of guaranteed state estimation and robust fault detection of uncertain Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems with unmeasured nonlinearities. The effects of both unknown-but-bounded disturbances and faults are taken into account in the state bounding observer design via…

Less-Conservative Robust Path Tracking Control With Intrinsic Bump-Free Feature for Autonomous Vehicles: A Sub-Polytope Integrated Approach

Liqin Zhang, Manjiang Hu, Yougang Bian, Hui Zhang, Anh-Tu Nguyen

This paper proposes a novel sub-polytope integrated approach (sPIA) that features an intrinsic bump-free transition, aiming to reduce conservatism in the design of path tracking control for autonomous vehicles with large range time-varying longitudinal velocity. The approach encapsulates the…
