Analyses of the Instabilities in the Discretized Diffusion Equations via Information Theory

Maxence Bigerelle, Hakim Naceur, Alain Iost

In a previous investigation (Bigerelle and Iost, 2004), the authors have proposed a physical interpretation of the instability λ = Δt/Δx2 > 1/2 of the parabolic partial differential equations when solved by finite differences. However, our results were obtained using integration techniques based…

Bond Graph modeling for fault detection and isolation of a train door mechatronic system

Laurent Cauffriez, Sébastien Grondel, Pierre Loslever, Christophe Aubrun

In this paper, monitoring and diagnosis of a new generation of train door mechatronic system is proposed. Bond Graph methodology is applied to obtain a reference model. In addition to this reference model, a global model based-FDI (Fault Diagnostic and Isolation) is developed for the generation of…

Carpal height and postoperative strength after proximal row carpectomy or four-corner arthrodesis: Clinical, anatomical and biomechanical study, Hauteur du carpe et force postopératoire après résection de la rangée proximale ou arthrodèse des quatre os médiaux avec scaphoïdectomie : étude clinique, anatomique et biomécanique

Pascale Laronde, Nicolas Christiaens, Aurélien Aumar, Christophe Chantelot, Christian Fontaine

Proximal row carpectomy (PRC) and four-corner arthrodesis (4CA) are the two most commonly performed surgical procedures to treat wrist arthritis. Postoperative strength is one of the criteria for choosing between the two techniques.

On the limit cycle stabilization of a DC/DC three-cell converter

Mohammed Benmiloud, Atallah Benalia, Michael Defoort, Mohamed Djemai

This paper investigates a new state feedback controller design for DC/DC three-cell converter. The high dynamic performances of the converter have been translated into a desired limit cycle stabilization problem. The state feedback is established using hybrid automaton formalism, which allows us to…

Energetic and Exergetic Analysis of a Heat Exchanger Integrated in a Solid Biomass-Fuelled Micro-CHP System with an Ericsson Engine

Marie Creyx, Eric Delacourt, Céline Morin, Sylvain Lalot, Bernard Desmet

A specific heat exchanger has been developed to transfer heat from flue gas to the working fluid (hot air) of the Ericsson engine of a solid biomass-fuelled micro combined heat and power (CHP). In this paper, the theoretical and experimental energetic analyses of this heat exchanger are compared.…

Experimental investigations for uncertainty quantification in brake squeal analysis

Alexandre Renault, Franck Massa, Bertrand Lallemand, Thierry Tison

The aim of this paper is to improve the correlation between the experimental and the numerical prediction of unstable frequencies for automotive brake systems considering uncertainty. First, an experimental quantification of uncertainty and a discussion analysing the contributions of uncertainty to…

Thermodynamic Analysis of the Irreversibilities in Solar Absorption Refrigerators

Emma Berrich Betouche, Ali Fellah, Ammar Ben Brahim, Fethi Aloui, Michel Feidt

A thermodynamic analysis of the irreversibility on solar absorption refrigerators is presented. Under the hierarchical decomposition and the hypothesis of an endoreversible model, many functional and practical domains are defined. The effect of external heat source temperature on the entropy rate…

Combined effects of the in-plane orientation angle and the loading angle on the dynamic enhancement of honeycombs under mixed shear-compression loading

Rami Tounsi, Eric Markiewicz, Grégory Haugou, Fahmi Chaari, Bassem Zouari

The combined effect of the loading angle (ψ) and the in-plane orientation angle (β) on the dynamic enhancement of aluminium alloy honeycombs is investigated. Experimental results are analysed on the crushing surfaces (initial peak and average crushing forces). A significant effect of the loading…
