Chronic low back pain sufferers exhibit freezing-like behaviors when asked to move their trunk as fast as possible

Imen Bourigua, Emilie Simoneau-Buessinger, Sebastien Leteneur, Christophe Gillet, Ghassan Ido, Franck Barbier

Background context: The effect of chronic low back pain (CLBP) on the kinematic parameters of trunk motion has received much more interest in this last decade. However, there are no descriptions of the motor strategies that occur when patients perform trunk movements in the three anatomical planes…

Hybrid sliding mode observer for switched linear systems with unknown inputs.

Jérémy van Gorp, Michael Defoort, Kalyana Chakravarthy Veluvolu, Mohamed Djemai

This paper addresses the state observation and unknown input estimation of a class of switched linear systems with unknown inputs. This class of systems may have modes in which the state is not fully observable. A state transformation allows implementing two suitable reduced-order observers. The…

An original approach for mechanical modelling of short-fibre reinforced composites with complex distributions of fibre orientation

Delphine Notta-Cuvier, Franck Lauro, Bruno Bennani

In this paper, an original and effective model of behaviour for short-fibre reinforced composites is presented. In particular, complex fibre distributions of orientation can be dealt with in a very easy way, without orientation averaging or additional homogenisation steps. The matrix material has…

Dynamic Behavior of Printed-Circuits Plasma Actuator Based on DC Electrical Discharge: Application in Aerodynamics

Rafika Mestiri, Mohamed Mehdi Oueslati, Anouar Wajdi Dahmouni, Ramzi Hadaji, Sassi Ben Nasrallah, Fethi Aloui

This paper deals with the electrohydrodynamic airflow control realized by the kinetic energy provided by an electrical discharge created at the surface of a dielectric material. We will present the results of the airflow control above an NACA0015 profile, this application is ensured by the action…

Minimizing the weighted sum of maximum earliness and maximum tardiness costs on a single machine with periodic preventive maintenance

Rachid Benmansour, Hamid Allaoui, Abdelhakim Artiba, Said Hanafi

We consider the problem of scheduling a set of jobs on a single machine against a common and restrictive due date. In particular, we are interested in the problem of minimizing the weighted sum of maximum earliness and maximum tardiness costs. This kind of objective function is related to the just-…

Limitation of parallel flow in double diffusive convection: Two- and three-dimensional transitions in a horizontal porous domain

N. Mimouni, R. Bennacer, Soufien Chikh, O. Rahli

Two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) numerical simulations of double diffusion natural convection in an elongated enclosure filled with a binary fluid saturating a porous medium are carried out in the present work. The Boussinesq approximation is made in the formulation of the problem,…

Analytical modelling using Green’s functions of heat transfer in a flat solar air collector

Ali Grine, A. Radjouh, Souad Harmand

We have developed a purely analytical model to simulate the thermal behaviour of a flat solar air collector operating in forced convection. The mathematical model developed is based on a direct solution using Green’s functions of the linear equation for heat propagation in the air flowing through…
