Software Implementation vs. Hardware Implementation: The Avionic Test System Case-Study

George Afonso, Rabie Ben Atitallah, Jean-Luc Dekeyser

This paper presents a development methodology that helps designers to map efficiently applications onto a heterogeneous CPU/FPGA system. An industrial case study is presented and aims at meeting performance and real-time requirements with the help of our architecture capabilities and avionic model…

Adding user experience into the interactive service design loop : a persona-based approach

Djilali Idoughi, Ahmed Seffah, Christophe Kolski

Approaches to service design share human–computer interaction's (HCI's) commitment to developing with and for people useful, usable and accessible services. However, there has been little explicit interaction between the emerging service sciences and the interaction design communities.…

Experimental study of flow behaviour and thermal loads in dual bell nozzles, Étude expérimentale de l'écoulement et des charges thermiques dans une tuyère dual bell

Chloé Génin

The nozzle are currently presenting the most promising optimisation possibilities to supply the increasing needs of the aerospace industry. The dual bell nozzles allow the altitude adaptation of the flow.

Hybrid approaches for the two-scenario max-min knapsack problem

Saïd Hanafi, Raïd Mansi, Christophe Wilbaut, Arnaud Fréville

In this paper, we deal with the two-scenario max-min knapsack (MNK) problem. First, we consider several formulations of MNK as a mixed integer programming problem. Then, we propose a hybrid method as an alternative to solve the MNK exactly. The approach combines relaxation technique and the…

Contribution à la formalisation et à l'identification de la stabilité humaine au regard de la sécurité : application aux transports guidés, Contribution to the characterization and identification of human stability in terms of security : application to guided transport

Philippe Richard

Le travail de la thèse propose une contribution originale basée sur le concept de stabilité humaine par l’identification des risques associés dans le cadre de l’évaluation de la sécurité du système. Dans une première partie, les difficultés à prendre en compte les facteurs humains dans les études…, The work of the thesis presents an original contribution based on the concept of human stability by identifying the associated risks as part of the safety system assessment. In a first part, the difficulties to take into account human factors in safety studies are highlighted and definitions of new…

Regeneration engineering for improving technical asset life cycle: an application to weapon systems availability assessment

Maxime Monnin, Benoît Iung, Olivier Sénéchal

Today, system availability is a determining factor in system deployment because it must be guaranteed in the operational phase while taking a large part of assets whole life cycle cost (WLCC). Thus, controlling system availability is now a critical issue in systems engineering. This is even more…

Finite element modelling of orthogonal cutting: sensitivity analysis of material and contact parameters

Michel Watremez, Damien Méresse, Laurent Dubar, Julien Brocail

This paper presents a finite element model of orthogonal cutting developed with Abaqus/explicit software. An Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian (ALE) formulation is used to predict chip formation, temperature, chip-tool contact length, chip thickness, and cutting forces. This numerical model makes…
