Multiscale roughness analysis of engineering surfaces: A comparison of methods for the investigation of functional correlations

Gaëtan Le Goïc, Maxence Bigerelle, Serge Samper, Hugues Favrelière, Maurice Pillet

This study investigates the correlations between the topography of different damaged rough surfaces and process conditions. Several surfaces are measured and compared to determine if they can be discriminated. The analysis is performed by using Gaussian Filtering, Wavelet Transform and a more…

Experimental Investigations on Oscillatory Couette Taylor Flow Wall Shear Stress Behavior using Electrochemical Technique: Low Modulation Effect

Emna Berrich, Fethi Aloui, Jack M Legrand

In the simplest and original case of study of the Taylor–Couette TC problems, the fluid is contained between a fixed outer cylinder and a concentric inner cylinder which rotates at constant angular velocity. Much of the works done has been concerned on steady rotating cylinder(s) i.e. rotating…

Service Orientation in Holonic and Multi-agent Manufacturing

Theodor Borangiu, Damien Trentesaux, André Thomas, Duncan Mcfarlane

Of interest are recent advances and on-going research in holonic and agent-based systems for manufacturing. Industrials are seeking for models and solutions that are not only able to provide efficient overall production performance, but also to face reactively a growing set of unpredicted events.…

Relationship between brightness and roughness of polypropylene abraded surfaces

Adrien van Gorp, Maxence Bigerelle, Denis Najjar

This article proposes to analyze the relation between gloss and roughness of surfaces of polypropylene samples abraded at different magnitudes. Experiments consist of mechanical polishing at different grades, roughness profiles measurement, and specular light reflectometry with three incidence…

A general variable neighbourhood search for the multi-product inventory routing problem

Anis Mjirda, Bassem Jarboui, Jelena Mladenović, Christophe Wilbaut, Said Hanafi

The inventory routing problem (IRP) deals with the study of the inter-relationship between two important activities in the supply chain: transportation of commodities and inventory management. In this paper, we study a variant of the multi-product IRP and we propose a general variable neighbourhood…

A quasi-static 3D model of wheelchair propulsion

Isam Hilal, Philippe Pudlo

The use of theoretical models is an alternative for studying the configuration of manual wheelchairs. Richter and Morrow proposed one of the theoretical models used to study propulsion in manual wheelchairs. However this analytical model is limited to use in the sagittal plane. This article…

Oualid Guemri, Bouziane Beldjilali, Abdelghani Bekrar, Ghalem Belalem

In this paper, we treat the Capacitated Location-Routing Problem(CLRP).TheCLRPwhichcombinesthefacilitylocationproblemwiththeroutingproblem is one of the most important problems in combinatorial optimizationfield. In this study, we propose a new Two Stage Heuristic (2-SH) algorithmfor the large-scale…

Improvement of a non energy-consuming system: A gamma Stirling engine

Ramla Gheith, Fethi Aloui, Sassi Ben Nasrallah

In this paper, the classical adiabatic model was chosen. The assumption of perfect gas working fluid was replaced by that of a real gas working fluid. This last assumption was defined by the van der Waals state equation. A Gamma type Stirling engine functioning with a maximum filling pressure of 10…
