Identification of lubrication regime on textured surfaces by multi-scale decomposition

Cédric Hubert, Krzysztof Kubiak, Maxence Bigerelle, André Dubois, Laurent Dubar

This paper focuses on the analysis of surfaces resulting from thickness reduction of aluminium strips, provided with lubricant reservoirs, and deformed with different lubricant viscosities and drawing velocities, by a specific experimental drawing process. During reduction, the lubricant is…

Void Fraction Influence Over Aqueous Foam Flow: Wall Shear Stress and Core Shear Evolution

Rogelio Chovet, Fethi Aloui

In this study, the two main transport characterization problems of the foam flow are studied: foam flow stability, through the evolution of the velocity at the core of the foam, and rheology, with the study of the wall shear stress over the lateral walls, for different void fractions. The same…

Observer design for Takagi-Sugeno descriptor models: an LMI approach

Víctor Estrada Manzo, Thierry-Marie Guerra, Zsofia Lendek

This paper considers observer design for nonlinear descriptor systems. We propose approaches based on Takagi-Sugeno (TS) models. An extended estimation vector is used in order to keep the descriptor structure of the observer. The design conditions for this new type of observers are expressed as LMI…

An Analysis of Driver's Avoiding Maneuver in a Highly Emergency Situation

Makoto Itoh, Marie-Pierre Pacaux-Lemoine, Frédéric Robache, Hervé Morvan

This paper discusses driver’s emergency avoiding behavior while he or she is driving a car in a rural area.Based on behavioral data obtained from an experiment conducted in France with a high-fidelity driving simulator, theauthors analyzed the driver behavior just before the collision. The results…

Inclusion et bien-être des élèves en situation de handicap moteur

Maxime Tant, Eric Watelain

L’objectif de cette étude est d’évaluer le bien-être physique, social et mental des élèves en situation de handicap moteur en Éducation physique et sportive par rapport à leurs pairs ordinaires en fonction du niveau d’expertise des enseignants dans l’inclusion. Pour ce faire, nous avons filmé les…, The objective of this study is to estimate the physical, social and mental well-being of pupils with a physical disability during Physical Education and Sport (PES) sessions as compared to their ordinary peers, and according to teachers' level of expertise in inclusion. In order to do so, we…

Failure mechanisms and reliability of the Al-chip-metallization during power cycling

Camille Durand, Daniel Coutellier, Hakim Naceur, Markus Klingler

Towards Ontology Matching Based System Through Terminological, Structural and Semantic Level

Aroua Essayeh, Mourad Abed

Ontology is a new paradigm introduced with the semantic web to describe in an explicit and formal way the various aspects of knowledge of a specific field. For this purpose, a single ontology may not be comprehensive to represent all due to the lack of a common and shared ontology between…

Dynamic self-organization in holonic multi-agent manufacturing systems: The ADACOR evolution

José Barbosa, Paulo Leitão, Emmanuel Adam, Damien Trentesaux

Nowadays, systems are becoming increasingly complex, mainly due to an exponential increase in the number of entities and their interconnections. Examples of these complex systems can be found in manufacturing, smart-grids, traffic control, logistics, economics and biology, among others. Due to this…

A numerical study of the evolution of the blast wave shape in rectangular tunnels

David Uystepruyst, François Monnoyer de Galland

When the explosion of condensed materials occurs in square or circular cross-section tunnel, the subsequent blast wave reveals two patterns: three-dimensional close to the explosive charge and one-dimensional far from the explosion. Pressure decays for these two patterns have been thoroughly…

A Pedagogic Pattern Model for Upskilling Software Engineering Students in HCI Design Practice

Michel Labour, Christophe Kolski, Ahmed Seffah

In this chapter, we describe a pedagogical pattern process that structures and transcribes salient points of simulation-based learning applied to Human-Computer Interface (HCI) design. First, we outline Christopher Alexander’s pattern language design theory. Second, we examine Jean Houssaye’s…
