Abdelghani Bekrar is an Associate Professor in Computer and Industrial Engineering at the University of Valenciennes. He is a researcher at the “Production, Services, Information” team of TEMPO-Lab (Valenciennes, France). He received the Diploma of Engineer from the INI (Institut National d’Informatique, Algerian High School), and M.S. degree from the Ecole Cenrale de Nantes, France. He obtained the Ph.D. degree in 2007 on Security and System Optimization from the University of Technologies of Troyes (UTT, France). From 2008 to 2010, he worked at DynaSys, French Company on supply Chain Management Optimization (www.dys.com).

His research interests include:

  • Optimization in manufacturing systems and supply chain under dynamic behaviour: Adapting optimization tools to realistic conditions. Cooperation with intelligent control approaches (holonic systems, multi agent systems,…),

  • Supply chain (SC) and combinatorial optimization problems: The SC problems are one of my interest fields due to the past experience in industry.

  • Hard optimization for engineer applications: many optimization problems arise in engineering. The aim is to apply efficiently the optimization techniques in different fields (Thermodynamic, Automatic…).

  • Metaheuristic design and implementation: Implementing operational research methods embedded in real time systems. Minimize communication and energy consumption.
